Eastleigh and District Model Boat Club

WELCOME
If you are interested in Model Boating, be it Scale models or Radio Control Sailing, we are one of the friendliest clubs in the South and welcome all skill levels from beginners to experienced builders, including supervised juniors.
Sail Division
An active radio yacht racing division sails at Eastleigh Lakeside Country Park on three mornings a weeks. We race Dragon Force 65s (Wednesdays). International One Metres (Fridays) and Dragon Flight 95s (Sundays). Radio Marbleheads racing is organised by the skippers - normally on Sundays.
*** Hot News from the Lakeside Manager - 05/08/25 ***
The Environmental Agency have confirmed following lab tests that the algal concentration is at a level deemed to pose a risk to humans & dogs coming in to contact with the water. For this reason, we have closed the lake to the public and for water sports such as swimming and kayaking.
However, in the case of model boating we are willing to make an exception and allow club members to continue to use the water to sail. This is on the grounds that you have advised that members will have very limited contact with the water and that any risk can be managed through you sharing knowledge of good hygiene practices, such as regular hand washing, equipment cleaning with any members, as well as advising they seek appropriate medical advice should they become ill following their use of the lake. That said, the Environmental Agency or Council are unlikely to carry out any more testing, with the lakes likely to simply remain closed to others for the remainder of the summer/autumn. Therefore, ongoing responsibility for assessing any further increases in algal concentrations during this closure period and any decisions on whether to continue your activities or not, will sit with Eastleigh and District Model Boat Club.
Scale Division
We cater for all types of model ships and boats. Whether they are scratch built, kits, collectables, made from any materials, scale, semi or non scale. Powered by electric, steam or sail (but our facilities are not suitable for I.C. engine powered models).
Our exclusive boating lake within the grounds of Highbridge Farm has a clubhouse, jetty and free adjacent parking. We meet every Sunday and Wednesday at 10.00 – 12:00 am to sail, work to further improve our facilities, or to offer experienced modelling advice.
To find out more about us you are most welcome to come along to either of our meeting locations on the days outlined above to find out more.
